Highlights

  • Underwater views through the transparent hull, seagrass and sand just under your feet
  • Ria Formosa's marine life up close: fish, crabs and seagrass meadows
  • Idyllic spots to swim and rest on deserted beaches
  • Flamingos and wading birds are often seen on the flats

Questions

Do I need any experience?

No special skills are required. Basic kayaking knowledge is helpful, and comfort in water is essential. Beginners are welcome, and the kayaks are stable and easy to navigate. You get instructions before you set off.

What should I bring?

Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and a water bottle. If you plan to take photos, make sure your camera is waterproof or well protected. Wear comfortable clothes that can get wet and suitable footwear.

Is it safe for children?

Yes, the kayaks are safe and stable, but the experience is not suitable for children under 8. Children aged 8 and over must be with an adult and wear a life jacket at all times.

What if the weather is bad?

If bad weather could compromise your safety or the quality of your experience, we may move your rental to another day or give you a full refund. The decision is made by the rental provider, with safety first. Weather cancellations are very rare: the lagoon is sheltered by the barrier islands.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Cancel up to 24 hours before your start time and you get a full refund.

Is there a guide?

No, this is a kayak rental, so you paddle at your own pace. You get the kayak, a life jacket, a map of the area and instructions, plus pointers to the popular spots before you set off.
