2 hours or 4?

2 hours

Out through the channels to the first sandbank, a swim, and back. Right for a first go or with kids.

4 hours

Time to reach the deserted island, walk it, find the abandoned lifeguard building and drift over the flats where flamingos are often seen.

Both kayaks come in 2 or 4 hours. The exact price for each length shows in the booking calendar.

Regular Kayak

The classic sit-on-top, with the whole lagoon around you.

The same channels and islands for the lowest price. Good for beginners, longer paddles, and anyone who'd rather watch the horizon than the floor.

Kids looking at the floor, not at a screen.

Aerial view of the Ria Formosa: white barrier-island sandbanks, green shallow channels and the open sea beyond

The islands take the waves.

A chain of sandy barrier islands keeps the open sea outside. In here the water stays shallow and calm, even when there are waves at sea. That's why weather cancellations are very rare, and if one happens you get a new date or a full refund.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Cancel up to 24 hours before your start time and you get a full refund.

Do I need any experience?

No special skills are required. Basic kayaking knowledge is helpful, and comfort in water is essential. Beginners are welcome, and the kayaks are stable and easy to navigate. You get instructions before you set off.

Is it safe for children?

Yes, the kayaks are safe and stable, but the experience is not suitable for children under 8. Children aged 8 and over must be with an adult and wear a life jacket at all times.

What if the weather is bad?

If bad weather could compromise your safety or the quality of your experience, we may move your rental to another day or give you a full refund. The decision is made by the rental provider, with safety first. Weather cancellations are very rare: the lagoon is sheltered by the barrier islands.

Is there a guide?

No, this is a kayak rental, so you paddle at your own pace. You get the kayak, a life jacket, a map of the area and instructions, plus pointers to the popular spots before you set off.
